Strange... But True


Art Appreciation

It might have been a 12-year-old’s idea of freedom of expression, but school officials were less than impressed.

During a school outing, the youth stuck a piece of chewing gum on a painting worth $1.5 million dollars at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The facility now has to figure out how to remove the sticky stain from Helen Frankenthaler’s 1963 abstract painting entitled The Bay.

The boy was suspended from school, but only after school staff chewed him out.
